Green Valley Women Golfers Board Meeting Minutes
May 6, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 2:20 p.m. by Captain Julie Osborn. Present were: Julie Osborn, Lorraine King, Melody Scott, Pam Angen, Diane Kelly, Diane Thompson, Sarah Johnson, Alice Delgado, Loretta McInnis, Lynn Waslohn, and Shinae Wegener.

The minutes of the April Board Meeting were read and approved as read.

Unfinished Business: Captain Julie Osborn advised that the name tags ordered by our members are available to be picked up.

Committee Reports:

Captain: Julie reported that the Sassy Sixties WGANC tournament held here and at Napa Valley Country Club on April 28th and 29th was a success, due in large part to Patti Williams’ efforts in getting volunteers to help out.

Co-Captain: JoAnna Chew needs raffle prizes for Charity Day on June 5th.

Golf Committee Liaison: Pam Angen reported there will be a meeting next Tuesday, May 13th. Golf Course Superintendent Ray Storey requested rakes be placed in the middle of the bunker. Pam will be requesting that the hours of future Demo Days on Saturday be changed from 10 to 3 to 11 to 4, to give the ladies who tee off at 10 an opportunity to participate. Alice Delgado asked Pam to inquire whether golf carts will be allowed on the lower portion of the 10th hole, now that the drainage problem has been addressed.

Invitational: Sarah Johnson reported on the progress of her committees. The signup board is on the Bulletin Board of the Ladies Locker Room. The committee will accept a maximum of 120 players. All members and guests must have at least 10 games posted this year and possess an official handicap by June 30th. Sponsor letters and Raffle Prize letters have been mailed out. The Treasurer is accepting entry fees and handing out the Invitations.

Guest Day: Loretta McInnis reported that we had 57 participants at the April 22nd Guest Day. For the first time, we handed out our logo balls instead of giving the sweeps money to the golf shop. Because of the way it broke down, Valerie gave away 60 balls. The rule of thumb has been one ball for each participant. We will emphasize this at our next Guest Day. There was a problem with members wanting to play on Guest Day but “follow the field” and not have lunch. After discussion, it is the Board’s opinion that our Standing Rule V-B must be enforced, I.e., “…the member is committed to the cost of lunch, which includes continental Breakfast and snacks at the turn, as well as $3.00 per person for sweeps.” Anyone not wanting to participate must make a tee time with the pro shop for later in the day.

No further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 2:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Loretta McInnis for Lynn Waslohn, Secretary
